On behalf of the Calumet, Outagamie, Waupaca and Winnebago County 4-H Programs, we would like to invite you to join us in Discover 4-H! This opportunity is for youth in grades 3-6 who are not currently enrolled in 4-H, but would like to get a hands-on introduction to the program. By providing youth with a FREE box filled with activities for six 4-H Project areas, youth will have an opportunity to spark their interest in one of our projects, connect with other youth to create a sense of belonging, and to engage in fun, educational activities with other youth, 4-H Educators, and volunteers.
The box will contain the materials you will need to be successful during the Discover 4-H program. This will include most of the supplies needed to complete the projects, with the exception of some basic supplies. Many include basic household items such as scissors, or perishable items that could not be included in the box for food safety reasons.
The box includes materials and lessons for:
● Animal Science – Basic Care of Dog or Cat and make a pet toy
● Cultural Art – Native American :WI tribal history and culture. Make a leather pouch
● Foods & Nutrition – Make your own personal pizza
● Plant Science – Pizza garden (plant tomato and basil)
● STEM – DIY Flashlight
● Woodworking – birdhouse or tool box kit
Throughout the remainder of the school year, our program will offer virtual zoom sessions for those participating in Discover 4-H. This includes a welcome zoom along with some zooms that will coordinate with some of the project areas. All six of the projects will come with instructions in case some youth will not be able to connect on zoom due to band-with or time.
Additionally with the projects, youth will find information about 4-H, joining 4-H, and the 4-H pledge. Here is the link to sign up: https://forms.gle/rvVRVuQqPVwN8kMn6. If you have any questions about 4-H or this program, please feel free to reach out to your County Educator.
