Thursday, February 8, 2018 is the date for the Waupaca County Forage Council’s annual meeting and auction. This year’s event will be at Bear Lake Resort in Manawa (N4715 State Road 22-110). Call our office to register at 715-258-6231. Registrations appreciated by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, February 5th. The days events will be as follows:
10:00 – Registration
10:30 – Sorghum / Sudan Grass Update by Matt Akins, Extension Dairy Nutritionist, UW-Madison / Marshfield Ag Research Station
11:00 – Local Field Research Updates: 1) Alfalfa Seeding Rates & 2) Low Lignin Alfalfa by Kevin Jarek, Outagamie County UWEX Crops and Soils
12:00 – LUNCH (members are free; non-members $20.00) MFA/Local Council Updates
12:45 – Forage / Feeding Strategies in Difficult Times an Open Panel discussion featuring Area Nutritionists including Dave Strebe, Echo Ridge Consulting, Zach Sawall, PhD Vita-Plus Technical Support and more
1:30 – Waupaca County Forage Council Annual Business Meeting
2:00 – Forage Council Member Auction – Auction proceeds are used to support local forage council demonstration projects and educational activities. Only members are eligible to participate in the auction.
2:30 – Adjourn
**NEW FOR 2018** Prior to the Forage Council meeting, Rural Health Initiative will be conducting FREE health screenings. Appointments must be made in advance by calling Dana at 715-258-6231 prior to the Thursday, February 8. Fasting is required!
